This second meeting of the international project Horizon 2020 INDIA H2O will take place from September 17 to 19 at the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education (The Netherlands). First project meeting was held at the beginning of the year in India.
The 19 members of the consortium will meet to advance in the research project focused on the development of phyto and biomimetic technologies for the purification and recycling of water at low cost, and in the definition of the construction of the two pilot systems for the treatment of planned waters.
One of the pilot plants will be destined to the desalination of groundwater of high salubrity and the second, to the treatment of domestic wastewater. Both will be installed in the state of Gujarat (India), where surface water resources are very scarce.
The new reverse osmosis technology will be developed in batches for a 10-fold reduction in specific energy consumption with high fractions of water recovery (80%), minimizing operating costs per m3 to less than 0.35 €/m3.
In particular, CETIM will contribute to this European project through the research and development of ionic liquids as a heat recovery solution in Forward Osmosis.
INDIA H2O, which will be carried out between February 2019 and August 2023, is one of the five European projects that CETIM has achieved throughout 2018, and which represent an investment mobilization of € 25 million.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 820906.
