Director General of the CDTI visits CETIM and hears from the industry to continue advancing in innovation

CETIM has received José Moisés Martín Carretero to present its lines of research, its laboratories and its main projects, of which more than 90 are or have been funded by programmes of the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) and in which more than 250 companies have participated.

The Technological Centre has also held a meeting with 16 leading companies from different strategic sectors, which have presented the main challenges they face and their research needs to José Moisés Martín Carretero, who has approached the CDTI R&D strategy, thus promoting collaborative synergies.

This morning, CETIM Technological Centre received José Moisés Martín Carretero, General Director of the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), at its facilities in Culleredo (A Coruña), to present him the main research being carried out at the Technological Centre.

During the visit, the CDTI Director General had the opportunity to see first-hand the scientific and technical capabilities of the Centre and its 10 laboratories – Chemistry, Bioprocesses, Water, Microbiology, Analytical, Batteries, Sustainable Construction, Polymers, Digital Industry and Climate Chambers – where they develop their main R&D activities around the Circular Economy. These include the development of advanced lignocellulosic materials, biological and biotechnological technologies and processes for the extraction of critical raw materials and the production of renewable gases, advanced water treatment and resource recovery processes, environmental remediation technologies, sustainable polymeric materials and their recycling, energy storage materials, sustainable construction, as well as traceability solutions, virtual twins and artificial intelligence, among others.

On behalf of CETIM, Toni Pons, General Director, highlighted the “excellent collaboration that we have maintained over the years between both entities, highlighting the more than 90 R&D projects financed by CDTI programmes in which our Centre participates and in which more than 250 companies have taken part”.

As part of this visit, CETIM also hosted a session with 16 leading companies from strategic sectors (ENCE, FINSA, FERROGLOBE, HIJOS DE RIVERA, TÉCNICAS REUNIDAS, VALTALIA, NAVANTIA, GRUPO COPO, GRUPO RODIÑAS, INTACTA, AQUALIA, EMALCSA, HI IBERIA, NORVENTO, AIRA and JEALSA), who presented the main challenges they face and their research needs to Martín Carretero. Martín Carretero, in turn, presented the CDTI’s R&D strategy, thus promoting collaborative synergies between the public and private sectors.

José Moisés Martín Carretero highlighted: “high-tech projects, with the capacity to transform the productive fabric and generate new employment and industrialisation opportunities for our country”.
