Presentation of DEGRADE project

On January 9, 2019, CETIM Technology Centre will host in its facilities the presentation event of Conecta PEME project DEGRADE “DISINFECTION AND ELIMINATION OF EMERGING POLLUTANTS BY PHOTOELECTROCATALYSIS WITH UV-LED”


Its consortium is formed by the companies NANOGAP, LEDISSON and INTACTA Gestión Ambiental, the latter leader of the consortium.

With the technological support of CETIM and the University of Santiago de Compostela, the partners will design and develop a system that allows the adaptation of the current channel disinfection systems by UV radiation of the wastewater treatment plants, to achieve not only a disinfection treatment but the elimination of emerging contaminants. To this end, the DEGRADE project will develop a technology based on photoelectrocatalysis, by combining UV-LEDs, which replace the current LED lamps, with photocatalysts based on nanoclusters on a conductive material, and the generation of highly oxidizing radicals, with in order to achieve target removal rates of both emerging organic pollutants and pathogens.
