The international forum dedicated to energy storage technologies and industrial battery applications will take place in Barcelona on 8–9th September.

CETIM will participate in Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe, one of Europe’s leading events focused on energy storage technologies and industrial battery applications. The event will bring together companies, technology centres, researchers, investors and policymakers from across the battery value chain in Barcelona on 8 and 9 September.
CETIM’s participation in this international forum reinforces our commitment to the development of advanced technologies that contribute to a more efficient, safe and sustainable energy transition. The event will address some of the sector’s key challenges and opportunities, including next-generation battery chemistries, digitalisation through the Battery Passport, the integration of energy storage systems, operational safety, component reuse, and strategies for the recycling and recovery of critical raw materials.
In this context, CETIM will showcase its R&D&I capabilities in the development of advanced materials, the recovery of strategic resources and the implementation of circular economy solutions aimed at improving the sustainability of future energy technologies. These research areas are essential for addressing both European regulatory requirements and the growing demand for more efficient and environmentally sustainable energy storage systems.
In addition, we will present the progress achieved within NanomatIA, a project focused on the development of lignin- and cellulose-based nanomaterials through the application of various mechanical and chemical technologies, as well as biotechnological methodologies. We are also advancing their functionalisation and integration into different components of electrochemical cells.
Through our participation in Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe, CETIM continues to strengthen its role as a driver of technological innovation and a strategic partner for industry, contributing to the development of solutions that support decarbonisation, resource efficiency and the competitiveness of European industry.
NanomatIA (MCIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) has been funded by the Agencia Estatal de Innovación (AEI) under the 2023 call for research projects in strategic research areas, supported by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. The project forms part of a coordinated action within the Transmisiones Initiative, together with a business consortium funded by the CDTI (Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial) through the 2023 “Misiones de Ciencia e Innovación” programme.
