EDIH DATAlife: Digitisation for Galician SMEs and public administrations

CETIM participates in the European Digital Innovation Hub offering technological solutions based on Digital Systems and Internet of Things for the forest-wood sector.

Although the digitisation of Galician and Spanish companies has been increasing in recent years, we are still far from reaching the 90% digitisation target set by the European Union. According to the 2030 report “Digital Decade Annex Spain”, only 68% of SMEs reach a medium-low level of digitisation, i.e. having their own website and having eliminated a large part of the company’s internal processes. This situation worsens when we talk about the use of new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.

For this reason, the EDIH DATAlife project was born, a European Digital Innovation Hub, led by the Galician Hub DATAlife, to implement disruptive technologies in validation and demonstration phases with great potential to facilitate and accompany Galician companies and public administrations on the road to digitisation. It is mainly active in the agro-marine, food, biotechnology, health-care and forestry-wood sectors. It is in the latter that CETIM is developing technological solutions to increase the competitiveness of the business fabric.

The technological services we offer at CETIM within this Hub range from the construction of sensors based on electronics, the use of photonics for applications of optics and artificial vision techniques, the design of customised prototypes to the development of Digital Twins and robotics. We are currently working with a Galician SME to develop a system for monitoring the quality of wood during tree growth.

In addition, EDIH DATAlife organises sectoral roundtables to meet with companies from key sectors with the aim of identifying the real digitalisation needs of each sector in order to propose technological solutions to these sectoral challenges from the Hub.

All services are listed in a catalogue available free of charge for SMEs, which includes tips for implementing new technologies and proofs of concept for Artificial Intelligence (AI), High Performance Computing (HPC) or the Internet of Things (IoT).

At CETIM we believe that it is necessary to support companies, especially SMEs, to facilitate the knowledge and adoption of these technologies. If you are an SME, a midcap, a large company or a public sector institution, do not hesitate to request the support of EDIH DATAlife: https://www.dihdatalife.com/formulario-servicios-edih-datalife/

EDIH DATAlife project has been co-funded by the European Union (GA 101083755 and NextGenerationEU funds), the Ministerio de Industria y Turismo, and the Escuela de Organización Industrial (Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia).
