OBJECTIVE:
Transformation of the natural slate production process with a holistic approach to SMART and Sustainable Production 4.0 that is characterised by being creative, intelligent and human.

2021 ANNUITY ADVANCES:
During the 2021 Annuity, the tasks carried out by CETIM focused on the design, acquisition and start-up of the prototype components for the molding machinery for geopolymer materials and on the study of the formulation of said materials. The unique and specific characteristics of the geopolymer make it a very optimal fit within the objectives of the development of the prototype and final product, a challenge that will be worked on during the 2022 Annual Report.

 

2022 ANNUITY ADVANCES:
During the 2022 annuity, progress has been made in completing knowledge about the advanced processing of cementitious and sustainable materials and its possibilities; Intensive work has been done on adjusting the formulation and its components to improve their properties; In parallel, design adjustments have been made to the prototypes for the proposed mouldings. Finally, different test tubes have been manufactured taking these adjustments into account, and the first prototypes of final parts have begun to be manufactured.

 

2023 ANNUITY ADVANCES:
In this last annuity, last works of the project have been carried out, focusing on the design, execution, printing and validation of proofs of concept. Different families of parts were established, classified into small, medium and large parts. For each of them, it is necessary to fine tune the dosages, formulations and components of each material for each type of part, taking into account both the feedback obtained from the previous printing tests and design requirements sought, among which aspects such as surface finish, and impermeability and consistency of the material were considered. Thus, and in constant contact with CUPA INNOVACIÓN, final parts were designed and manufactured, on which final validation tests were carried out.

This project is granted by the Galician Innovation Agency in the framework of the 2020 call of the “Fábrica del futuro, fábrica inteligente y sostenible de la industria 4.0” aid programme. The grants awarded under this programme have been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under Axis 1 (Promoting research, technological development and innovation) of the ERDF Galicia 2014-2020 operational programme.  The project is supported by theVicepresidencia Segunda and Consellería de Economía, Empresa e Innovación.
