VIGO on February 21, 2019. UTINGAL, a leading company in the Galician and national aeronautical industry, presented on February 14, 2019 at its Tui facilities the results of the R&D project MACIZADO, developed together with two leading companies, engineering ISEGA TECHNOLOGY and COASA, from AERNNOVA group, and that culminated successfully in November 2018 after more than two years of coordinated effort. The Technological Centers CETIM and AIMEN were also part of the project as technical support of the project. It should be remembered that component potting is a complex technological process that requires a whole series of development, inspection and automation tools that can only be solved through a group of first line companies that combine the different lines of development required.
In the exhibition of results, in which the people in charge of the project of all the participants participated as well as the GAIN representative Joaquín García López, allowed to expose of direct form the results of the works realized along the project, realizing also a demonstration practice in UTINGAL’s own facilities of the bulk of one of the samples that exemplified the success of the project. After the visit to the plant, an exhibition of the results was made from the theoretical point of view and the deliverables of the various stages of development were shown. UTINGAL manager, Mr. Jesús López, highlighted at the end of the same “the great commercial opportunity that opens, with GAINS’s support, to transfer the results of the macizado to an aeronautical market more and more demanding and in continuous growth“.
Therefore, this initiative funded in the CONECTA PEME 2016 program by the Galician Innovation Agency GAIN under the title “AUTOMATED TOOL OF COMPONENT POTTING OF HIGH ADDED VALUE AERONAUTICAL STRUCTURES”, has allowed to generate a specific tool for the process of solidizing pieces of high added value for the aeronautical industry.
The project has combined the efforts of UTINGAL as a company specializing in aeronautical engineering, ISEGA as an expert in automating processes and COASA as a large company in the aeronautical sector. UTINGAL was mainly responsible for the development of machining processes, ISEGA for electronics and related robotics and COASA provided the industrial characterization of the process, bringing developments closer to the market and the industry. The project has had the collaboration of AIMEN, in the development of technology linked to the processes of process inspection, and CETIM as a Center in charge of supporting the development of engineering and rheology of materials. The consulting and coordination of the same was carried out by the expert company Grupo ECO 3G, also present at the visit and which coordinated the results presentation together with UTINGAL manager Jesús López.
MACIZADO project was supported by FEDER funding and the Xunta de Galicia and GAIN through the CONECTA PEME 2016 program (IN852A / 20).
